“Our Ward, Your Voice”
A Message from Mark Stefanic:
Giving back to our community through our time and talents was a value instilled upon us by my parents and I have been fortunate to participate and give back by serving on various boards and lending a hand in support of local initiatives. My education and my experience have been assets that I have drawn upon to help me in serving my community. I am now running for the position of Alderman where I will serve the people of the 14th Ward and the City of Rockford.
An Alderman is a representative of the people of that Ward and a liaison with the city and the departments that provide services. As your Alderman, I will be your voice on the city council and your advocate when it comes to public safety, fiscal responsibility, and the economic development that is so important to reduce the disproportionate amount of our budget that is reliant on property taxes.
Public safety is a critical issue in our community. I will advocate for strengthening the city’s ability to provide shorter response times for police, fire, and ambulance services. We need to make sure law enforcement has the resources necessary to protect our entire community. Our quality of life depends on our ability to have confidence in our public safety departments. I also view snow plowing and maintenance of our roads as a public safety issue. I also support more community involvement in helping foster safe neighborhoods.
Being fiscally responsible is a lifelong value to me that has led me to earn a business and accounting degree and MBA along with a career in the private sector managing the finances of large corporations. I will apply my skills and experiences to make sure that city finances are managed in a sound and effective manner. Elected officials need to respect the citizens and businesses in our community who pay taxes and deserve the services that those taxes are supposed to pay for.
Economic development is the lifeblood of any community. It is the job of our elected officials to create an environment that attracts and fosters growth that lessens the burden on existing taxpayers. There are a number of issues that we need to address in the city of Rockford such as high property taxes and violent crime that impact the ability to attract new businesses and maintain existing businesses.
My long history of community service and my work history shaped and refined my ability to solve problems, provide leadership, communicate clearly, and collaborate with others. I would be honored to have your vote in the April 6, 2021 election and my promise is to work hard and always represent your interests.
“I am honored to have received the endorsement of the non-partisan Rockford Regional Good Government PAC.”
